Course Material

Overview

This exercise consists of participants reading a short clinical vignette about a post-operative cervical cancer case. Then they will prepare by contouring the required volumes on the specified CT simulation slices.

During the webinar, Dr. Sushil Beriwal will go over the specified volumes and slices, talk about why he contoured the way he did with reference to the latest NRG/RTOG consensus guidelines, and then compare the reference contours with the participants and offer suggestions.

Audience

This program is designed to meet the interest of radiation oncologists and radiation oncology residents.

Program

Each of the workshop sessions will last for two hours.  The session will cover the following areas:

  • (Pre-course) Access to platform and hands-on contouring by participants

  • Short talks each by sub-site surgeon, radiation oncologist and radiologist

  • Presentation of the case and delineation guidelines used

  • Breakout session to review participants’ contours in comparison to the reference contours

  • Summary of key points by expert panel

  • Discussion between participants and experts

Learning Objectives

  • Describe clinical and anatomical rationale for the selection of clinical target volume and organs at risk delineation

  • To appreciate the changes in the updated NRG/RTOG consensus guidelines and to apply them to clinical practice.

  • To understand how bony levels only serve as surrogates for anatomical landmarks and should no longer be utilized in the era of 3D imaging and simulation.

  • To be familiar with surgical approaches, implants/reconstructive approaches.

  • Learn about the post-operative imaging modalities used to identify residual tumour and/or post-operative changes
